Yes, John,
Lots of fascinating stuff. And we need to share much of this stuff that we grew up with gets retold for the next generations.
Other topics include train orders and running a railroad before radios. What good and even great passenger service was like before Amtrak.
I want to do a book about the Carson & Colorado / SPng that would be about the kind that you would like. The hows and whys of building the railroad and the effect it had on the country it ran through and the people both who worked for the railroad and the local population. What I've been reading for information and background is just fascinating -- at least to me.
But then some things never seem to change: How about the weekly newspaper editor admonishing his readers not to allow their children to play around the cars --
back in 1882 ! !
