There is a lot of the railroad business, past and present, that rarely gets talked about. One of the nice things about this place is it has given Ed Trump a place to teach some of us about the telegraph and telephone lines that were essential to train operation. And occasionally we hear about MOW or engine overhauls. But there is so much more to railroading than running trains. For example, when I read books on railroad history, I rarely see much about the economics of why lines got built, or how they got financed. And how about the Car Service and Car Accounting rules and systems. Lots of fascinating stuff but rarely discussed.
