Interesting question--I'll ask my next door neighbor who was the engineer on the Sawpit project and also a mining engineer. I do know that both tram towers were built about the same time and that the Telluride Iron Works in Durango furnished the material, and perhaps the tram system. Andy Anderson, the last owner of TIW, and who was working for Melcher Brothers in Durango when we did the work, said he still had the plans but he never got around to digging them out. I assume they still survive. The plans we did have were photocopies of an article in Railroad Model Craftsman that the BLM had found and used as the basis for the work. But all the information we needed was still on site and we just put the pieces back together using new timber where needed.
