Just a VERY good man following orders and doing his job to provide the C&TS with the best track that he could at a reasonable cost. The real problem was that the Commission back then, or the Histöric Preservation Committee - or whoever - hadn't specified that ALL of the minor wooden trestles - not just Hangman's (aka Ferguson's) - were as important a part of the historic fabric of the railroad as the water tanks and coaling tower. IIRC, 286.72 was "culvertised" during the 2008-2009 'off-season', and - much worse, IMHO - 287.50 was culvertised early in 2010
