Hi Michael,
Certainly in my case, that is the case. My comments have nothing to do with Roger, or the incident in Chama. I was shooting someplace else when the drone incident occurred and it did not affect me at all.
These threads have surfaced a valid concern about drone technology, however, and aviation is a topic that is pretty near and dear to my heart. The reason that the skies have been as safe as they are over the past few decades has been due to the rigorous training and certification requirements for the people who fly and the machines they command. We also have the best air traffic control system in the world, bar none. I have real concerns about what a plethora of untrained "aviators" and uncertifed flying machines will do to that safety record and the public's perception of aviation. New technology can be exciting and potentially rewarding, but if we cast aside the traditional methodical, careful, cautious approach that has served the aviation industry well, in favor of a read-fire-aim approach, we are just asking for trouble.
