Hi Randall,
"Rights and privileges" versus common courtesy and civility is what much of this is about. The people that paid for the charter have no more "rights and privileges" then the non paying person standing next to them on a public right of way. I would hope that all would behave in such a manner as to give everyone the opportunity to take their photos without interference.
I think what has kept this thread stirred up are the self righteous who claim that nobody has the right to tell them what to do, even when nobody is. One poster actually had the nerve to claim that people who pay for charters are stupid, when they can take the same photos for free. That sort of attitude naturally gets people stirred up.
Roger has in fact apologized, but on the day of the incident his apology was less than graceful. That is what set off the initial poster. He clearly has reconsidered since then and I have no problem accepting that he made a mistake and that he has apologized for it. I think much of the succeeding discussions about drones was aimed at drones in general and what the future will bring, rather than continuing to beat on Roger. At least I hope that is the case.
