C&TS added ridership

With all the talk about the late opening of the railroad, and just one engine to haul the trains over the entire line 4 times per week, it seems the limiting factor of riders is seats for the Chama to Cumbres section. I don't recall what the number of cars is but considering a rider gon, and K36 you are probably talking about 6 coaches to Cumbres. Of course there could be quite a bit more carried from Antonito westward.
So, how about the 487(0n a work train or break-in run) taking 2-5 coaches to Cumbres and stash them on the helper siding. Then when the train goes from Chama to Cumbres, they can add these cars to the train and drop them at Cumbres the next day from Antonito.
Another ticket option could be added for
Cumbres to Antonito $50.00
Antonito to Cumbres $50.00
Make this option only available when the other cars are full, necessitating the use of the Cumbres coaches.
Another option is to make a dead-head move to Cumbres about 7 am, taking extra coaches empty to the top. This would only have to be done 2 days a week, and would allow for longer trains all the way from Antonito to Chama, and from Cumbres to Antonito.
This last option would mean 28 miles more for the 487 on days it leaves Chama however, and might require a half-day crew. However, if the fares are there it might be worth it.
