Cause I remember chasing it at age 15 from Durango to Gato, plus it was the first engine to pull regular excursions on the C&TS, and it has been in continual service the longest of all of the K-36's. Also used on our "Chased By A Steam Train" videos in 1997 cause it was my favorite.

This engine comes in second since I rode the cab a long way in 2014. I also have some vintage footage of it on the Monarch Branch in Regular service(widening the rail)

Always felt this engine was a great worker on the C&TS and Rio Grande for that matter. It was on a RMRRC trip my dad rode in 1954, being the first time one of the Scholl's had been introduced to the NG.
It also was the only engine serviceable around 2001 when the RR had issues.

Gets honorable mention cause I saw it run in 1968, plus it was the first C&TS engine in operation moving stuff to Chama, etc. Also I got to see it in 1971, and in 1976, one year before it was finished.

Have seen it 3 different years on the D&S, plus it was our engine on our ride to Silverton in 2014. Also have movies of this engine for our video with coverage of Monarch in the 1950's. First of the bunch too.
It also has a dog house
Bottom of the batting order

Not sure why but not my favorite C&TS engine. It was not running when we were there in 2014, but thats okay

Its okay but not as nice as 480 today since it has no dog house. Have some scenes on the Monarch line with this engine though.

Have not seen either loco since D&S has restored them to operation, so hard to judge these two. I had hoped one or both would have been running but for the 3 days I was there in 2014 neither operated. Do have each in regular service films though, and they seemed fine there.
485..
Dad has a shot of it wrecked in Salida, but any engine still running takes priority over one that has been scrapped.
