Hi Russo,
I used to be a regular visitor to the HSB, it is between Hanover and Leipzig, about a six hour drive north from Munich. Since its East German days Wernigerode has developed into a very nice tourist center with a bunch of good hotels and restaurants, and multiple steam trains run daily to the top of Brocken peak, the highest point in northern Germany. Great place. But Munich is also close to so many other interesting railway places to visit, especially in Switzerland. The HSB is just one of many great possibilties. My pictures from the HSB are
HERE (HSB pix).
