IIRC, Steve -
That ditty about the Greek dude* is from Ed Stabler, courtesy of his dad 'Doc' Stabler, a much-loved Biology perfesser at Wm. J. Palmer's very own Colorado College in Colorado Springs, which I was privileged to attend in the early 1960's. And I am quite sure that Ed could sing it much better than I.
And as to your suggestion for lunch, Spam has become a sort of "IN" delicacy - at least at our local Tiki Bar - which offers a sort of Spam sushi roll?!?!?!??!!! Personally, I would much prefer liverwurst sammidges - with lettuce, jack cheese, lots of brown mustard and a good, thick slice of sweet red onion. That would indeed occasion a rendition of Allan Sherman's
'Ode to Liverwurst', which achieved immortality on the flip side of 'Dearest Muddah, Dearest Faddah, here I am at Camp Granada'. To whit:
"When you go to the delicatessen store
Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liverwurst,
It'll make your in-sides awful sore -
Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liv ... er ... wurst!
"Oh, the corned beef you can trust, the pickled herring is a must,
and those bagels on the shelf are A - O - K.
But that big hunk of Liv-er-wurst has been there since October First,
And today is the twenty-third of May . . .
"When you go to the delicatessen store
Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liverwurst,
Let me repeat what I said before, -
Don't buy the Liverwurst, Don't buy the Liv ... er ... wurst!"

* If you read between the lines of Ed's contribution, I believe it hints at the first use of gas warfare, which would explain how only 300 Spartans could defeat a much, much larger force of - who was it - Macedonians??
