Re: Getting to Lava Tank

A couple of years ago Roger had some still shots of a HUGE brown bear just west of Cresco. I think he was shooting from the highway west of the siding, but not sure if I remember correctly.
Last September I hike up over the bridge and past the tank at Cresco, and was looking and listening for critters the whole time as I was by myself.
While mentioning Cresco, I had a great experience waiting on the train.
I could hear it for over 5-6 minutes from around the stateline and further west of that. I decided to turn the camera on, and its some pretty cool listening before it even comes into sight. There are several slips of 489 and then digging into the grade. One of those AHHHHHHH moments on the NG.
I decided to include it in some upcoming C&TS material which should be ready in a couple of weeks(Waiting on the duplication place).
I have never actually seen a bear nor snakes out there either but am super cautious. I have seen bears and captured on tape in western Canada.
