The orignal roofs on these were not duckbill, but instead sheet metal hoods or bonnetts. The duck bill was one of the rebuilding stratagies used by D&RG... Some were rebuilt with duckbill roofs, some with true bullnose roofs incorporating a ventalator under the overhang, and some with "faux" bull nose... without a ventalator and with the original roof line visable inside the car at the ends, in the clerestory.
