I believe you made the right call there. Having seen the interior measurements of the original coaches, I can't imagine modern Americans would find the seat dimensions particularly comfortable. People today are on average quite a bit taller and larger than was the norm in 1875. The original 2-and-1 seats would look beautiful, but I'm not sure how well they'd serve in actual use.
