Question about C19's

March 29, 2015 12:28AM
I know that some of the C19's, including 346, were converted to Standard Gauge for a few years, before being returned to Narrow Gauge. I recently bought one of Bachmann's large scale C-19's, and I just can't visualize how this was done?

I realize it's only a little over 9 inches per side, but was the frame widened? Or were there just longer axles used? How about the steam cylinder saddle? Replaced? Widened? Modified somehow?

More or less just curious, not going to try it with one of those expensive models, and are there any photos of them in their standard gauge form?

Thanks in advance,

Robert
