The shot through the cut is just below mile 15, not near Larch. Sadly this cut no longer exists as St.Hwy 7 overlays the grade in that location with a good deal of additional rock blasted out on the hill side as well. The old road at the time of the photo was on it's own ledge blasted out higher up above the rr. There is however still some neat remains of the rr that can be spotted in the Boulder Gorge area. The trestle in front of 17 was built in 1919 IIRC to replace a Howe Truss bridge what is shown in a number of early photos of the rr. The photo on pg. 8 of "Rails Sagebrush and Pine" by Mal Ferrell shows an Eastbound train about to cross the original trestle.
