Hi,
My CAD drawings were based on the prototype drawings in May 1975 NG&SLG. One was a plan for the 14' box car (side and end only) that I think was created from the photograph.
The other was for the 23' 7" box car that was published in an industry publication at the time (I think it was Railway Age). The 23' 7" drawing had a GOOD detail of the underframe BUT showed a curved roof on the box car.
Based on these two drawings, I draw prototype plans for the 14' box car and the 23' 7" box car. I extrapolated the gon and the flat cars.
It is interesting to note that the 14' foot gon and the flat car used a different sized queen post (already noted but not the "glaringly" obvious error). The photos show the 14' box car has no truss rods over the queen post (also not the "glaringly" obvious error if you know your history).
As a side note, a pair of 17' construction flat cars could haul 33' long sections of rail (17' x 2 = 34' plus spacing between cars of about 2' = 36').
