Re: Glover Locos

Thanks for the info. I did not know there was a web site showing the Glover restoration.
As for where the 0-4-0 is, it is definately not in the shops. The shops were razed in about 1993 (about a year or so after the 2-6-2 was completed and displayed). The Glover machine works book (I an not find my copy) showed the 0-4-0 on a flatbed truck being the last US made steam locomotive being built by a steam loco builder from the hayday of steam to be delivered from the factory (albiet a little rusty). The erection site now has part of a highway underpass under the old Western and Atlantic main and government offices from, I believe, the city of Marietta.
Glover machine works is still in existance outside of Albany, Georgia. All patterns, prints, and plans ever made for locos is in a holding area somewhere in Marietta for a proposed living musem (my term). Supposedly the museum would be able to make castings from the patterns and machine the parts. It is possible but improbable that a NEW locomotive could be manufactured.
