Had the chance to get a cab ride but lost the opportunity. I was there when it was "track" day and "the" employee was working on an old switch near the wye. Fella told me to come back on Mondays or Tuesdays when they ran a train (he was also "the" engineer). You're right, the SW was of NYC vintage and I remember reading an old "TRAINS" article about the line and its steam tourist operation....wonder what happened to the 2-6-2?
Got a great book for Christmas last year called "American Narrow Gauge Railroads"; has a section that lists all the states and all the slim gauge lines that ran through them.
The roads are smoother...no doubt about it!
