In 2011, my wife and I caught a Train 461 (first train that morning) at Rockwood setting out a car with a hotbox. Train 463 wasn't too far behind and, in fact, arrived in Rockwood before the crew had finished setting out the car. I'm 99% sure I heard 2 torpedoes go off around the curve at the south end of the yard. Only time I've heard them in person. Unfortunately I missed recording them. 463 then crept up to the yard throat.
I'm not a railroader (yet), but looks to me like the D&S handled everything quite well.
