In the late 50's, Magma 7 carried a tall flat top plain whistle and at the end,
I believe that she had a Powell chime. That's what she had in
'67 & '68 when I saw her operating.
At one time, I had both Powell, Lunkenheimer, Crosby & Lonergan chimes in 8" diameter.
There was a difference in tones and it was subtle. For maritime
and factory use, Lunkenheimer as well as Crosby, sold chimes up to
12" in diameter. I am aware that Lonergan and Powell went at least
as large as 10" in diameter.
Interesting that both Powell and Lunkenheimer were headquartered in
Cincinnati, Ohio.
