D&RG Train 425 was the Second Class (Mixed) train from Antonito to Santa Fe as of January 29, 1923, it ran Daily Except Sunday. It's north bound counterpart was Train 426. At that time the motive power was a T-12 4-6-0 and consists was varied and often ran as a mixed train.
It was about this time that the bay window was added to each side of several of the coaches so the conductor could view his train, as a caboose was not used. This line was covered in more detail with history, maps, timetables and photos in the latest NG ANNUAL (the last one, if you can find it.)
After about 1925, heavier rail allowed the use of K-28 "Sport Model" 2-8-2s until the end of operations in 1941.Between about 1939-1941 TR 425 was run as part of the "San Juan" between Alamosa and Antonito.
