Car 284, now at the Colorado Railroad Museum, was one of the cars used on the last runs of Trains 425-426. The locomotive was the 470. That engine returned to Santa Fe a week later with six cars of revenue freight, even though it was a scrap train. (I think the source was Jimmy Blouch but I am not sure.)
There were two private cars on the train. On board were D&RGW general manager E.A. West and assistant general managers Wilson and Bradford. Santa Fe hosted a world famous Fiesta over Labor Day weekend and the railroad brass probably used the occasion of the last runs to take in the sights of The City Different.
