Jerry,
Maybe you, others can help with a couple of questions on dual gauge operations - since the topics open.
I know a few K-37s were equiped with dual gauge couplers. They can be seen in some photos in Norwood's books, #491 and #496. Do you know if any K-27, K-28 or K-36s were equiped with dual gauge couplers? Either pilots or tenders? I've only been able to find info on K-37s being dual gauged.
I'm a big fan of David Queener's and Don Niday's 1:20.3 scale standard and dual gauge efforts. And with a Standard gauge boxcar build by Don with David's SG trucks and a Berlyn K-37 #491 equiped with dual gauge coupler hardware on its tender, as soon as David's dual gauge tie strips are available I'll be able to run a dual gauge train. Looking forward to that day. But ideally an Idler Car or dual gauge coupler pockets added to existing rolling stock would be nice to have available. So I've been looking into this side of things.
The Colorado RR Museum in Golden Co. has an idler car which provides a great source of info, i.e., measurements. But drawings would be better. Do you know of any drawings available of either a dual gauge ideler car or the dual gauge coupler hardware on the locomotive pilot or tender?
Thanks.
