Contrary to popular belief (and many captions) the Oriental Refinery in Alamosa, CO that was the destination for the Gramps oil was not originally closed due to a fire. There was a fire I believe there in later years but that was not the reason the refinery closed. September 1964 then would have been the end of line for Gramps oil moving over the line from Chama to Alamosa.

Oriental to Close Alamosa Refinery
Oriental Refining Co. will close its manufacturing operations – its crude oil refinery- here on Oct. 1.
The announcement was made today by K.P. Wilson, superintendent.
He said, however that Oriental will continue to operate its bulk plant and gas stations here.
Close-down of the refinery which will mean laying off about 20 men is “due to business conditions”, said Wilson.
The superintendent said that the company hopes to resume operations of the refinery some time in the future if business conditions improve.
