And...right after posting that I found a LIRR engineering drawing from 1909 showing the location of the new standard gauge terminal at Manhattan Beach in relation to the original narrow gauge terminal, and there was of course a turntable!
Standard gauge terminal is at upper left, with earlier narrow gauge track curving to the east on the south side of Oriental Blvd; I've added a red circle to indicate NY&MB turntable. Also shown is the Marine Railway, which shuttled holidaymakers between the Manhattan Beach Hotel and the Brighton Beach Hotel to the west ("To Coney Island"). This figure is borrowed/modified from Art Huneke's LIRR site.
