Much of Brooklyn may still have been semi-rural in the 1870s-1880s, but check out the all the grade crossings the NY&MB had to deal with in Bushwick -- shown below from about MP 1.75 just north (railroad west) of the diamond crossing of the LIRR Bushwick Branch to the curve at Cooper Avenue Junction at MP 3.95:
