Jerry Day provided me with this info on the installations of the flangers to a few select K-27's. Interesting info.

Progress Report for Ridgway Shops
July 27, 1940
Flangers for K-27 engines:
Engine 463 completed.
Engine 455 about 8 hours work to complete. Was necessary to take off mole board and cross bar and remodel account rubbing wheel. The cross car was made same as one for 463 but evidently difference in engines.
462 No work done – will make up and apply at Durango.
455 No work done – will make and apply when removing flues.
Received material yesterday for flangers, machinist Clingen and helper now making these up.
Pilot plows of K-27 engines. Material received and moved up to roundhouse Ridgway yesterday.
Flanger 02 – This plow still at Rico, will move in soon as have room to handle at Ridgway.
Wedge plow for Engine 42 – This has been moved into Ridgway and will widen after we complete flangers and plows for K-27 engines. See foot note.
Note: Mr Taylor, D&RGW foreman at Durango stated this morning that Mr. A.G. Green, had taken exception to wedge plows, and that Mr. Green had handled with this superior office and now rules that must have an automatic coupler. From this is would appear that could not use wedge plow as an extension coupler would be too long for practical use.
