PRSL We have mounted all of them in the high position.
Another little known practice unique to the Uintah, as far as I know. The freight car couplers are mounted between two short blocks that are bolted to the bottom of the center frame beams, instead of being mounted between the beams like standard practice. This puts the coupler about six inches lower then standard. Any idea why they did this? Seems to me to be much weaker then mounting between the beams, but it does allow for a solid end sill that is not cut out for the coupler.
