As far as I know, the old roundhouse will be removed by early next year. At the old station will be no more original White Pass track. Also the track after the station belongs to the City.
On the other hand, Yukon Gov. wants connection between the Alaska and an Canadian Standard Gauge Railroad. And it looks that maybe in the future, Whitehorse has a standard gauge railroad connection. What happened to the White Pass is not clear. A few years ago, there was the discussion to change gauge from 3 foot to standard. Maybe we will have it again. So far, we are happy to have souch great Narrow Gauge railroad, between Skagway Alaska and Lake Bennett, B.C. and hopefull to Carcross in the future. But so far in 2003 there will be NO service into the Yukon. No Carcross service! Only Lake Bennett and Fraser as usual. From there only bus schedule.
