The tracks was originally torn up and some railroad buildings (I believe) were torn down to improve downtown? The track had to be rebuilt after it was removed in town. I believe this was the City of Whitehorse that did this?

The tracks are still in place to Whitehorse and about 5 years ago a rescue train went to Whitehorse to retrive a loco and some cars stored near Whitehorse.

In many low marshy places the tracks between Carcross and Whitehorse are in rough shape from many years of frost heave and no maintenance.
The ballast is washed out and the track has no support where Cowley Creek has cut a new path.
