I agree that there is a lot of opportunities for both Skagway and Whitehorse to benefit. Whitehorse decide to remove the track and then had to rebuild it. Seems they forgot to check with WP&Y if the track was out of service and abandoned. The Steam Excursion program has been cut back somewhat for the future.
We couldn't get any discussion as to the future of the line to Whitehorse. Since a lot of tourists now go to Canada and the Dawson City area in the Summer, I believe that one reason for the retaining the Whitehorse line is to pick up more cruise passengers going to inside the Yukon for tours and return to their Ship at Skagway.
It seems that the WP&Y has increased patronage in the past years, while the D&S and C&TS have shrank.
