Actually on revisiting this car numbering difference, I didn't get it wrong, Mal Ferrell had and I quoted him. Where you got the "
The 27' car at St. Elmo is 25192 not 24192." from, I don't know.
In my 2nd post in this thread I wrote
====================================
>>Remaining up at St Elmo is former DSP&P/DL&G/C&S boxcar, the UP number was 24148.
The only thing I got wrong was adding
DSP&P ahead of the DL&G. the number was referring to the second car at St Elmo as being the #7298.
Finally after wading all through my C&S books, I can point you in the direction of a Jackson Thode photo of C&S#7298 (nee DL&G 24148) on pg8 of Grandt's N.G.Pict viii and also photo of UPD&G #25192 (C&S 7611) on pg 24.
Just to be clear, the #25192 was upgrade of the #7298.
This muddying of the waters so to speak has caused others to get their Models in a knot.
I rechecked my numbers posted this time.
Cheers
