WP&Y used a simplified tractive effort calculation: TE = 20% of weight on drivers. I imagine they had some reason for using a non-standard method of calculation, perhaps because they had non-standard operating conditions. ???
Since they used the same calculation on all the steam engines, I think it is a valid comparison between WP&Y engine capabilities.
I'll let you know after I get my time machine operating.
