The K-28s would have been used between Skagway and Bennett and from Macrae to Whitehorse, but not likely between Macrae and Bennett, especially after mid '43 when the 190s arrived. The 190s or 70s were usually the lead engines all the way to Whitehorse. The K-28s were mostly used as mid train helper engines usually to Fraser or Bennett, or just to the summit. #69 was the pusher engine on almost every train up the hill. The mid-train helpers and pushers would clean cars off the sidings and roll them down to Skagway. Once the train reached Fraser, one 70 or 190 could pull it to Whitehorse. One K-28 was kept at Whitehorse to work the yard and to push trains up the 4% hill to Utah-Wigan-Macrae.
