In this case you can never say never and it applies here. I looked at the picture your referencing and I personally just don't see it as being a tri-color herald--my opinion. It does look like the tender and lettering had been recently done or it appears to look fresh, but even that assessment is just my opinion. I will have to ask Mr. Coker about this the next time I talk to him, but if he found that herald on the 484's tender then we need to look at the 488 that time period because the 488's tender went to the 484 in the mid 40's other than that there wasn't a lot of documented tender swapping among the K-36's during the D&RGW days unlike the K-37's. What would be interesting is to see if there are more pictures of the 477 during this period to get a better idea of what we are looking at. Also the B&W picture in itself hinders us. In this picture it may be a tri-color herald but I think based on this one picture we'd need to see more to form a real opinion. Just my 2 cents and yes a civil discussion is always welcome, but I like to deal with opinions as opinions and facts as hard facts! Thanks for your post and observations.
