The D&RG surveyed grade from Almont to Hillerton and Viginia City(Co) just short of Tin Cup in 1881, some 31 miles. All in responce to rumours of the DSP&P headed that way.
In 1901 the Taylor Park Railroad was incorporated by the directors of the Taylor Park Mining Co with the intended purpose of linking Buena Vista, Tin Cup and Aspen via Scofeild pass. Later newspaper reports said it was intended to link with the DSP&P at St Elmo. Line to have run up North fork of Chalk Creek, crossed Tin Cup Pass and along Mirror Lake to Willow Creek. In a Dec 1902 news item there was mention of a Tunnel 1600ft long on the pass, contracts awarded for and a force of 200 men to begin work on both sides of the Pass.
Hmmm where have I read that same story before...
