It is sad to see the shape 498 is in. She was stored in the Alamosa roundhouse from Aug 1968 for 13 years, when she was sent to Durango. This was part of the sale of the NG from Durango to Silverton from D&RGW to her new owners.
It is my understanding that 498 was in good shape at the end of her service in 1968. She probably would have been a great restoration candidate in 1981 when she went to the D&S.
Now she appears to be a parts source.
