. . . #487 pulled forward to allow #488 to exit the wye:


#488 then backed across the road on the siding, and disappeared behind the rider gon and caboose:


She emerged some time later pushing the pipe gons and their idler cars:


#488 entered the main, and then backed across the highway yet again - and coupled to the work cars, rider gon, and caboose:


Finally, at 12:33 - more than 45 minutes after the train had arrived at Cumbres - it appeared that it had been reassembled:


Not wanting to be left behind, I clambered down the hill and drove around to the parking lot.

As it turned out, I needn't have hurried - there was still more switching to do, and it was nearly an hour before I took my next photo - at 1:26 pm during the first run-by at Tanglefoot . . .
