What has SVRR accomplished? As stated by Jim, a historic operating steam railroad has been recreated starting with a nearly blank slate. Historic equipment from the original operation has been acquired and many of these acquisitions have their own story that in some cases is somewhat colorful. I've only been involved since '98 so I can't speak to those early times of the organization. As an asside from where I am going with this, I am certainly one of the grateful recipients of being taken under Laura's wing as she first showed me how to start a fire in #3 and bring the old girl up to steam.
In the last dozen years SVR has:
Costructed a back shop, previous to this restoration was nearly impossible in anything but fair weather as all the existing buildings were dedicated to housing Eng.19, the #3 and Coach 20.
Installed a floor and parts storage rooms in the car shop.
Built a new depot in Sumpter
Extended track in Sumpter which involved a large fill and public road
crossing with lights.
Renovated the former 19 shed into a restoration facility,
Constructed a State approved fueling facitlity for gas, diesel and
oil for 19.
Obtained additional used buildings to move on site for historical
offices and display.
Rebuild of the water tower along with a well and automatic well pump.
Contruction of trackage to the stalls of the back shop.
Acquistion of additional equipment from Colorado, Alaska, California
Montana but SVRR and it's sister organization Western Railway
Preservation Society.
Acquistion of a diesel back up 50 ton locomotive from Panama.
Form 4 overhaul of WHEccles #3 in '99.

On the purely historical side, much has been acomplised in
recovering and archiving historical photos and documents associated
with SVRy and the associated logging railroads.
WOW!!!!There is probably some stuff I've missed.
