E.(Emmit) J. Freeman was born circa 1874 and was hired as a fireman on 10-8-1998 (oops 1898) and promoted to engineer on 10-1-1901. He finished his railroading career on the standard gauge passenger trains 115-116 between Alamosa and La Veta in 1945. A Pueblo crew handled the train the rest of the way. The train connected with trains 15-16 at Pueblo. The 1700 class 4-8-4s at the end of his career were a lot bigger than the narrow-gauge steed engineer Freeman has here. He was the senior hoghead on the former Fourth Division at the time of his retirement.
The only Good that I have on my lists from 1920 is H.A. Good, who had a fireman's date of 2-6-1902 and an engineer's date of 10-29-1905. F.B. Good may have had too much snow and found a warmer job.
