No, not at lunch. But that evening Peter Crook, Olaf Rasmussen and I did find a bar that served an excellent locally-brewed amber ale. We eventually joined the rest of the gang in the adjoining restaurant, and after consuming another ale or two during dinner I treated (subjected?) a couple of my companions to an à Capella rendition of "The Ballad of Festus Frothjaw" * as we walked through the nearly deserted streets of Virginia City on the way back to the hotel.

But you implied such in your remarks above, which is why I inserted the "[only]" when I quoted them in my response.

Yes, it's really too bad you missed the gemütlicheit at dinner on the 8th. OTOH, be thankful that you got out of town prior to my recitation (which, in spite of your encouragement, did NOT include any yodeling).

Amen to that, John! All those great D&RGW N.G. photos from you and Tom helped make the "Help Save #483" screen saver possible - the income from which is partially responsible for The Friends agreeing to undertake her restoration (cosmetic at least) beginning this summer!
