Hi, all -
OK, since none of them there pros - Crook, Gildersleeve, Lerro, West et al - have posted any photos from Peter's V&T trip on February 8th {
here on the NGDF},
*
it looks like it's up to me to share a few
. . .
Contrary to the (hopefully) attention-grabbing subject line (above) - even though their cabeese, diseasels and passenger cars do sport a light shade of green trim - SFAIK none of the V&T's steam locomotives have been prettied up with green boiler jackets. But the combination of florescent lighting, steam in the air & dust on the jacket of #29 sure did make her look like it on the evening of February 7 when Peter Crook and I stopped by the shop. The following photo has been cropped, but the colors have NOT been doctored other than adjusting the over-all brightness and contrast just a bit
:
Shop foreman Charlie and engineer/mechanic Patrick graciously invited us inside, and up into the cab where there was also an eerie greenish glow shining on the wall outside the window
:
By the time I returned VERY early the following morning #29 had already been moved outside the shop, and I made use of one of several large flashbulbs given me several years ago by Tom Gildersleeve
:
Unfortunately, I had over-tightened the first bulb when inserting it in the flash gun, and it broke off when I tried to replace it with a fresh one after the shot above; this one of the crew assembling the train had to be made with the small amount of ambient light available
:
The following was made after the engine had run around to the front of the train at the depot, taking advantage of the excellent professional lighting provided by our trip sponsor, Pete Lerro

(To be continued ... )
