Being put on display ( stuffed and mounted) doesn't mean the end for a engine. Just look at 486. And 483 would get some much needed attention in the process. Just sayin. When the D&S went after 482 and 486 they went after what was available. They had already had bad experiences with 497 and they believed it was tearing up their track. There were no more k27 or k28 and they were having good luck with the k36 and there were several setting around rusting away. Sounds like a no brainer to me. I hope 483 rides the rails again some day but my vote is for a k37 to see steam again next.
