In late August 1970, 476 whacked a crane doing construction work up near the old "Red Barn" resturant where the Iron Horse Inn is now. The incident totalled 476's diamond stack. After the Labor Day flood in 1970, 476 was used on at least one work train sans diamond stack. There is a shot of it like this in Payne's "Grande Gold" book.
Also 473 used the old balloon stack made for RGS 20 in Ticket to Tomahawk in Butch Cassidy which had been sitting on 315 on display since it was used in Around the World in 80 days. 473 left this behind when it ran light to Alamosa with a shotgun stack.
BTW I was mis-informed about 473's meet with the Antonito Local being the last dual gauge meet. When 483 ran back to Alamosa in Dec. 1968 it met the Antonito Local in Antonito. I got this info from the guy running the Antonito Local (Eldon Morgan), he still has the train orders from that day.
