Ernie and Terry Ross gave a presentation in Chama last year on the early days of the C&TS as part of the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the railroad that featured about
one percent of Ernie's vast collection of more than 9,000 slides; I doubt that my scanner - and my eyes - will last long enough to process more than four or five times the eighty or so that he has shared with me so far.
* A much bigger concern is the long term preservation of this priceless treasure trove at an appropriate museum. Fortunately for historians, Ernie wrote meticulous notes on every slide, and they are carefully stored in chronological order.
IMHO, there should be an annual gathering of Instigators & Curmudgeons in Chama, featuring a slide show by Ernie and entertainment by Ed. With luck, we'll get through ten to fifteen percent of Ernie's slides while most of us are still around!

* Forty to fifty of these will be on Volume II of the screen saver '
Narrow Gauge Over Cumbres - The Transition Years', which I hope to finally get finished - along with an improved version of Volume I - by the 2012 season so they can be used in raising funds for a possible K-37 restoration.
