Kerry,
I appreciate your concerns and the fact that you came out with a positive attitude about your frustrations on my objectives. Thank You above all for your Kindness. I have seen in other forums much striking as if to place a deadly poisonous fluids into the minds of those trying to just get a simple question answered or an opinion shared.
We all have wants and desires of what would be the greatest highlights for the C&TS, but what is most important is that we as a body (a whole) can do more good if we are united and organized in what we do. We here all have something in common. And this would be that we love the Narrow Gauge. Whether its powered by Steam, Diesel, Gas, or even Mechanical devises. We love to see it in operation, but we appreciate it even as a static displays.
My first question to begin with was to find out how much high-quality
information there was on this sight about the restoration of 483. I knew from a visit to Chama in 1999 that there were a few people that were banding together to try and do this. And then later on in 2004 I had heard more about it. I was in Chama last year but with the operations being mostly off the top of Cumbres I didn’t take the time to delve into questioning anyone about 483. Besides She was in Chama all dolled up, fully reincarnated with a plow on front, to boot.
I am just trying to find information, from reliable sources. What I can do as one person may be very minimal, but I have some connections(friends who own foundry’s and machine shops, people who have finance companies, people in the government). We all know somebody that could help make a difference if we do unite in a cause. Look what a few million bucks, much elbow grease and plenty of migraine head aches, did to a sorry looking (Ex-F&CC) D&RGW 315. That is the direction that I am looking at, a Sponsorship of a Locomotive. For who really owns the C&TS it is the People of the States of Colorado and New Mexico (In alphabetical order).
