I am new to the "Narrow Gauge Railroad Discussion" site and I have been very surprised to see how fast and how many fellow enthusiasts have made comments regarding our recent find. When I first saw photos of this unknown caboose sitting in a backyard of a home just 5 miles from where I live I couldn't believe my eyes. I was pretty sure what it was from the photos and as soon as I went to see it I was positive. The type of windows and a very hard to read number above the door confirmed that this is C&S # 1008. As you have read the car has been moved to my home where my brothers Bob and Ron and I will attempt to restore it to operating condition. I have begun to clean the inside of the car (five buckets full of mud, dirt and splintered wood so far) and am pleased to report that much of the interior wood is salvageable (with some careful work). Other pieces are very badly wasted and will need either complete or partial replacement. The frame looks OK with some rot that will need to be addressed. Only several metal pieces are left under the car and are part of the brake gear. Bob will be posting pictures soon. Thank you all for your interest and comments we greatly appreciate any information and advice or suggestions you may have for us. We are looking for parts, just about anything that is part of the wheel assembly, draft gear or brake system will be needed. Thanks again - Richard Farmer
