Remember that the RGS used Durango for a terminal for many years and it is possible that an engine was hot and ready to move some cars or it could have been cars for it's train. RGS track ended west of the river so they had trackage rights into town to interchange. From what I have read, all industries but the other smelter south of town were D&RG(W)customers.
