A 2 ft 6 in gauge 0-8-0T heading into the Steyr Valley in Austria

The 25-mile Steyr Valley Railroad (Steyrtalbahn) in Austria utilized primarily a small fleet of 0-6-2 tank engines for the busy passenger train operation and for some of the mixed trains that carried wood products in addition to mail, express and a few passengers. For heavier freight trains, the railroad had at least one 0-8-0, 699 103, that had been converted from an engine with tender into a tank engine. I was lucky enough to find 699 103 in operation, but on this morning the engine was charging out of Garsten with an early passenger train rather than a freight, certainly a light load.
