Re: Question - The SVRy route west from Dixie Summ

Glen: I played with terraserver some lately on this and have pretty much given up trying to spot the ROW. I do have this map I mentined in another thread that shows the ROW so here goes. As you already know the ROW leaves PC going E.SE in direction for about 1 mile or perhaps a little more. It turns N.NE crosses John Day River and heads up the west side of Dad's Crk. About 2 miles up Dan's Crk. it crosses to the other side. I might be able to get more precise with the creek crossings by comparing to the bridges in the valuation report. The RR continued up Dad's creek 1.75 miles and crosses back to the west side. About 2 miles further up it crosses back to the east side makes a U turn back out of the canyon apparently going around the ridge and up Jeff Davis Crk. It goes about a mile up Jeff Davis Crk. on the west bank and pretty far up the hillside as I recall from being out there once. The switchbacks are at this point. This map I have is not too precise. Was the depot and water tank right at the summit, or was it a little farther east? They were at milepost 69. which appears to be about 1 mile beyond the swithchbacks on this map.
